Query Letters
UK agents are usually happy to see a standard query letter including the story title, word count and genre. I like to include one or two short paragraphs on the nature and style of the story itself. Whatever you do, keep it to a single page.
There's much more variation with agents in the USA. Queery Shark is a useful site for devising a query letter.
In all cases check out the agent's (or publisher's) requirements beforehand. There are some websites listed on my Links page.
