Costume & Clothes - Traveller in Black

Dressing up is a load of fun.
For me, dressing up other people can be even more fun, and hugely satisfying to see them look good in something you've designed and made.
I started working in leather around 2002 - 2003 following one of those 'I could have a go at that' moments.  Several years later what was meant to be a minor hobby, something to do when I was too tired to write, or just needed a break, has turned into Traveller in Black, my web-based costume site, and it keeps me busier and busier.

Most of what I make is still where I began - costume, equipment and armour for role-players and re-enactors.  I've also had a small number of comissions from film, TV, and fashion (Jenny Packham).  Costume for medieval and other weddings has also been an unexpected and interesting development.

Leathers and suedes are great materials to work with, there is such a huge variety of colour, texture and weight.  Simply making something with your hands is very satisfying, it seems to use a different part of your brain compared to writing.  Both are createive and both can be exciting.  Both are rewarding but in very different ways.
